Bellevue South High School went on full lockdown Friday morning after a gun was found in a student's backpack.

Principal Duntz used the completely expected event to remind students of his philosophy that “big things start with little things that become slightly bigger things that become even bigger things, but still kind of small, but then after they keep getting bigger a little bit at a time, they finally become big things, and these big things are bad things that can lead to big bad things happening” to them.

"I tell these kids that one day it's not eating your fruits and veggies, the next day you're pounding three energy drinks a day, and eventually you're runnin' guns and drugs for the local gang leader," said Duntz, adding, "It's a slippery slope from bad nutrition to dope."

Asked about the need to lock down the school after the gun had already been found, principal Duntz discussed the importance of following protocols without questioning the logic behind them, stating, "The district hired me because I do what I'm told and don't ask questions. If they wanted a critical thinker they would have hired the librarian."

Students did not appear concerned by the presence of a gun on campus. "We're kinda used to it," said one student, claiming that she knew of at least 16 other boys who regularly bring guns to school in their backpacks.
